Magill adds CoSIDA Academic All-America honors to trophy case

WALTHAM, Mass. – Recent Brandeis University graduate Erin Magill of Moretown, Vermont, has been named a College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Women's Cross Country and Track and Field Academic First Team All-American for Division III.

The 2021-22 Academic All-America® Division III Women's Cross Country and Track and Field Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. To be eligible for the team, student-athletes must carry at least a 3.30 grade-point average and be a significant contributor to their team.

Magill is Brandeis's second CoSIDA Academic All-American® of the school year, joining Juliette Carreiro '22 of the women's soccer team. Magill is the 23rd student-athlete to earn CoSIDA honors for Brandeis, totaling 28 awards. She is the fourth member of the women's track and field and cross country programs to be recognized and the first Judge to earn first-team Academic All-America® honors at Brandeis since 2012. Magill was one of 15 members of the Division III Women's Track and Field and Cross Country Academic All-America who posted a perfect 4.0 GPA.

Magill earned All-America honors in all three of her trips to the NCAA Championships during the 2021-22 academic year. At the 2021 Division III Cross Country meet, she placed 36th overall, helping the Judges to a 20th-place finish. During the 2022 Indoor Track and Field Championships, she placed sixth in the 5K with a time of 16:54.62, then a career-best and the second-fastest time in school history. At the 2022 Outdoor Track and Field Championships, she finished eight for her third All-America honor with a school-record time of 16:41.13, besting the previous school record by six seconds. Magill also won University Athletic Association championships in the 5,000-meters both indoors and outdoors.

In the classroom, Magill graduated with a perfect 4.00 grade-point average as a double major in linguistics and French and Francophone Studies. She was named to the Dean's List every semester and was named Phi Beta Kappa as a junior. Magill spent the summer before her senior year working at a Russian Summer Intensive Program at Middlebury College in her home state of Vermont. After her graduation, Magill will teach English in France.

Magill is a 2018 graduate of Harwood Union High School.
