Volleyball finishes second in Pool at Hall of Fame Tournament

SO. HADLEY, Mass. -- After winning their opening match over Bowdoin, 3-0 (30-22, 30-26, 30-16) and falling to MIT 0-3 (24-30, 20-30, 28-30) in the second round, the Brandeis volleyball team is in the second-place bracket at the Hall of Fame Tournament. The Judges face Wellesley College in their first match of the day and either Middlebury or Springfield in the fifth- or seventh-place match.

In the win over Bowdoin, rookie middle blocker Bridget McAllister (Santa Clara, Calif.) did a little bit of everything to help the Judges win. She finished with 10 kills, four digs, three blocks and five service aces. Sophomore outside hitter Lorraine Wingenbach (Buffalo, N.Y.) added eight kills, four digs and three aces, while sophomore setter Violette Ruggiero (Paradise Valley, Ariz.) had 31 assists and eight digs.

In the loss to MIT, Wingenbach and McAllister were the top offensive threats with nine kills each. They also led the team with nine and seven digs, respectively. Ruggiero had 27 assists and four digs.
