Waltham, Mass.- The Brandeis University women's volleyball team
opens up the annual Judges Classic with a relatively easy 3-0 win
over the Plymouth State Panthers.
Brandeis started off with a close game at 30-25, but were able to
finish the following two games at 30-16 and 30-16. Junior outside
hitter Lorraine Wingenbach (Buffalo, N.Y) and sophomore middle
blocker Piera Carfagno (Los Angeles, Calif.) tied for team-high
kill honors at 14 kills a piece. Carfagno led with an impressive
hitting percentage of .611 and three service aces. Rookie setter
Abby Blasco (Greeley, Colo.) ran the offense, finishing the match
with 38 assists and 12 digs.
Brandeis will be playing tomorrow against Gordon at noon and
SUNY-New Paltz at 2.
