In the nightcap against Williams, Brandeis faced stiff
competition, but came away with a 3-1 win, 25-19, 26-28, 25-18,
25-22.
Brandeis was paced by sophomore Paige Blasco
(Greely, Colo.), who established a new career high with 19 kills
and again hit over .400, making just two errors in 37 attempts for
a .459 hitting percentage. Senior Lorraine
Wingenbach (Buffalo, N.Y.) added 15 kills. They both
recorded double-doubles with 18 and 12 digs, making them two of
five Judges with more than 10. Senior Violette
Ruggiero (Paradise Valley, Ariz.) led the team with 19,
while Abby Blasco also had a double-double with 50
assists and 11 digs. Junior middle blocker Piera
Carfagno (Los Angeles, Calif.) just missed a double-double
with nine kills and 11 digs.
The Ephs got a team-high nine kills from sophomore middle blocker
Nicole Ballon-Landa (La Jolla, Calif.) and 17 digs from junior OH
Melissa Pun (San Fransisco, Calif.). Sophomore setter Emily Avis
(Palo Alto, Calif.) had 36 assists.
