Kim earns 100th career win in volleyball season opener, 3-0, over Babson

BABSON PARK, Mass. -- The Brandeis University volleyball team opened the season tonight with a 3-0 win over rival Babson College, giving head coach Michelle Kim the 100th victory over her career in the process. Brandeis earned the straight-set victory, 25-18, 25-22, 25-14.

Senior outside hitter/middle blocker Bridget McAllister (Santa Clara, Calif./Presentation) paced the Judges with a match-high 10 kills. She had just three errors in 17 attacks, swinging at a .412 clip. Juniors Nikki Smith (Marietta, Ga./Alan C. Pope) and Paige Blasco (Greeley, Colo./Frontier Acad.) added eight kills each. Blasco's twin sister Abby added a match-high 30 assists, while rookie libero Anna Homitsky (Pittsburgh, Pa./Seneca Valley) led all players with 14 digs in her first collegiate match.

For Babson, sophomore outside hitter Meg Flaherty (Hollis, N.H.) led the way with six kills, while junior Nina Milovanovic (Belgrade, Serbia) collected three kills. Senior tri-captain Shanna Glassner (Orland Park, Ill.) chipped in with 12 digs despite missing the third set with an injury, and first-year setter Kathleen Lynch (Quincy, Mass.) added team-highs of 13 assists and 13 digs in her collegiate debut.

The Judges are next in action on Friday and Saturday when they travel to Springfield College for the Springfield Invitational.
