NEW YORK, N.Y. -- The Brandeis volleyball team wrapped up its 2011 season with a 3-0 loss to Carnegie Mellon in the seventh-place match at the 2011 University Athletic Association championships. Set scores were close (25-21, 25-23, 25-20), but the Judges couldn't quite put the Tartans away. Brandeis closes its season at 9-21.

For the third match in a row, rookie outside hitter Liz Hood (Albuquerque, N.M./Albuquerque Acad.) and sophomore OH Si-Si Hensley (Fullerton, Calif./Troy) led the squad in kills, with both registering 10. Hood wraps up the season leading the team with 3.20 kills per set, seventh-most in the UAA and a shade behind NYU's Sarah Buckingham for most among rookies. Hensley's 2.24 kills per set ranks 18th in the UAA.

Defensively, the Judges also had two players reach double figures in digs. Rookie libero Elsie Bernaiche (Plantsville, Conn./Southington) topped the team with 14. Her 4.25 digs per set is sixth in the UAA and most among first-year players. Junior Susan Sun (Acton, Mass./Acton-Boxborough) had 12 digs, her fifth match of the season in double digits. Junior middle blocker Becca Fischer (San Antonio, Texas/Clark) had another fine performance at the net with four blocks (one solo). She ranks ninth in the UAA with 0.78 blocks per set.
