Volleyball falls to Emerson in three

BOSTON, Mass (courtesy Emerson Sports information) - It was a match of rallies as the Emerson Lions swept the Brandeis Judges, 3-0, last night in Boston. With the win Emerson rises to 5-4 overall while the Judges drop to 2-10 overall.

Momentum shifted throughout the match, but the Lions never let Brandeis score above 20 as the sets ended 25-17, 25-17, and 25-20. Both teams would go on streaks of scoring 4 or more unanswered points, including a 7 point streak for Emerson late in the second set.

Leading for the Judges was sophomore Jessie Moore (Rye, N.Y./Rye) with 8 kills, 1 ace, and a block assist. Rookie Marlee Nork (Chicago, Ill./ Walter Payton College Prep) had 10 set assists and 3 service aces, while classmate Leah Pearlman (El Paso, Texas / El Paso) led the defensive effort with a match-high 12 digs.

Stat leaders for the Lions include freshman Kelley Guerra with 8 kills and a big assisted block. Teammate Fara Cohen was right behind with 7 kills and 2 assisted blocks. Elaine Nichols had 25 set assists and 11 digs. Sam Harton was close behind with 9 digs and an ace.
