WALTHAM, Mass. – Brandeis University volleyball setter Marissa Borgert of Blaine, Minnesota, has been named a CoSIDA Academic All-District selection by the College Sports Information Directors Association. She is now eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-America honors.
Academic All-District honorees must be sophomores or older, have at least a 3.30 grade-point average and have played in at least half of their teams games. Student-athletes are nominated by their SIDs and voted on by fellow SIDs in the region. Brandeis is part of District I, which includes Massachusetts and Maine. Borgert, who was earned All-UAA honorable mention honors this year, started 24 of 27 matches this season and quarterbacked the Judges with 617 assists, sixth in the conference. Her 7.09 assists per set ranked fourth in the league. She also ranked fourth in both categories in UAA play with 209 assists and a 7.46 assist-per-set average. Borgert also led the team with 34 service aces, 11th in the league, and in service-aces-per-set, ranking 6th. Borgert registered four double-doubles this season, including a career-high 17 digs in a 3-1 loss to Bates on Sept. 13.
Off the court, Borgert carries a 3.83 grade-point average as a biology and Health: Science, Society and Policy double major. She is a two-time Academic All-UAA selection who has made the Dean's List every semester at Brandeis. Borgert serves as teaching assistant for organic chemistry and is involved with Brandeis Buddies, an organization that works with Waltham residents who have developmental disorders.
Borgert is a 2017 graduate of Spring Lake Park High School.
