Alyssa Pisarik leads the way as women's x-country takes seventh at UAA championships

ATLANTA, Ga. -- Rookie Alyssa Pisarik (Chelmsford, Mass.) had her best collegiate performance today, leading the Brandeis women's cross country team to seventh place at the University Athletic Association (UAA) championships.

Pisarik covered the six-kilometer course in 22:55.14 to earn 22nd place overall. She finished 16 seconds out of All-UAA position. Another rookie, Kate Warwick (Boxborough, Mass.) was the Judges's second finisher, coming in 36th overall in 23:19.89. Alyssa's older sister Beth (Chelmsford, Mass.) was Brandeis's top upper-classman, placing 40th in 23:32.25. Rounding out the scorers were junior Ally Connolly (Concord, N.H.) and sophomore Marie Lemay (Saco, Maine), who were 54th and 56th, respectively, in 24:05.25 and 24:12.88.

The meet saw sixth-ranked Case Western Reserve defeat defending champion and 18th-ranked Washington University for the UAA crown.
