CHICAGO, Ill. -- The Brandeis Universiy women's cross country team placed seventh out of eight teams at the 2011 University Athletic Association championships held at the University of Chicago on Saturday. 

The Judges were paced by senior Kate Warwick (Boxborough, Mass./Acton-Boxborough), who came in 17th place overall. Warwick covered the 6K course in a time of 23:22.82, missing All-UAA honors by 15 seconds. She improved by 20 places over her junior campaign by shaving 20 seconds off her time. 

In second place for the Judges was rookie Miriam Stulin (Needham, Mass./Dana Hall School), who had her top collegiate performance by finishing 31st overall with a time of 23:55.86. It was the first time she has been Brandeis's second runner this season and the first time she has run 6K in college. Stulin finished eighth among UAA rookies this year.

Next up for the Judges was sophomore Ali Kirsch (Sharon, Mass./Sharon), who finished in 37th place with a time 27:08.73, good for an improvement of 22 place and 56 seconds over her 2010 performance. Classmate Victoria Sanford (Lagrangeville, N.Y./Arlington) came in 61st with a time of 25:14.65, while senior Monique Girard (Billerica, Mass./Billerica Memorial) rounded out the scoring runners for the Judges in 67th place in 25:55.17. Rookie Kristi Pisarik (Chelmsford, Mass./Chelmsford) was Brandeis's last finisher in 69th place with a time of 26:13.20. 

The Judges' seventh-place finish was down a spot from 2010. They scored 185 points, edging eighth-place Rochester by a single point. The UAA features five nationally-ranked teams: Champions and second-ranked Washington University (25 points); No. 26 NYU (2nd place, 68 points; No. 19 Emory (3rd place, 85 points); No. 33 Chicago (4th place, 114 points); and No. 35 Case (5th place, 118 points). Carnegie Mellon finished just ahead of Brandeis in sixth with 178 points.

Brandeis returns to action next weekend at the NCAA New England regional championships at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine.
