WINNECONNE, Wisc. -- Brandeis University senior Kate Warwick (Boxborough, Mass./Acton-Boxborough) represented the Judges at the 2011 NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country Championships today, finishing among the top 50 out of 277 runners at Lake Breeze Golf Club in Wisconsin, hosted by the University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh.

Warwick completed the six-kilometer course with a time of 21:54.84 to finish in 48th place. She finished about 12 seconds out of a top-35 finish which would have given her All-America honors. Warwick was eighth among University Athletic Association runners and 12th among those from New England.

Warwick ran a terrific race to finish within five seconds of her lifetime best, set a week ago at the NCAA regionals. After the first mile of the race, Warwick was in 78th place and was in about the same ranking after mile two, sitting in 74th. She made her move in the third mile, moving up to 50th place before edging two others into her final 48th place.

Brandeis competed against the top three finishers at the NCAAs in their last two meets of the season. National champion Washington University hailed from the UAA, while the runner-up and third-place teams, Middlebury and Williams, were both from New England.
