Getting to know Kate...

My favorite part about competing for Brandeis, other than my teammates, is: Being able to have a great balance of academics and athletics where I can excel both athletically and academically. I have been able to pursue many academic opportunities while being part of an amazing team.

My favorite athletic moment at Brandeis has been: My sophomore year I transferred to Brandeis and during winter track we went to a meet at Bowdoin where my former team was competing as well. I ended up running a lot faster than I expected I could, including faster than all of my former teammates, but that wasn't the part that made it my favorite moment. It was the fact that the entire team was cheering very loudly for me and made me laugh and smile during the race. As someone who gets very nervous before and during races, that was the most fun I have ever had racing and it felt so good to be a part of such an amazing team. It solidified that I 100% made the right decision to transfer to Brandeis.

My favorite high school/non-Brandeis athletic moment is: I competed at states for the first time my Junior year of high school and had an amazing time. It was a very hard course but I had a great time with my teammates and it was a very rewarding race.

My favorite professor at Brandeis is: Colleen Hitchcock because she has been an amazing teacher and mentor. I have taken several of her courses and been a teaching assistant for several of her courses and had an amazing time and learned so much from her. She is also my mentor for my Senior Research and Thesis which I started this past spring and have been working on this summer.

My favorite place to travel to is: North Conway, NH

Outside of my sport, something I am looking forward to at Brandeis is: Pursuing my Senior Research and Thesis

My dream job is: A field researcher pursuing ecological work because I love being outdoors and learning more about the natural world

My favorite movie of all time is: Spiderman: No Way Home

My favorite TV Show is: Stranger Things

My favorite song is: 1000 Nights by Frenship

My favorite book is: Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer

My favorite pro sports team is: The Boston Bruins because I love ice hockey and used to play in middle/high school

Summer Internship: Conducting Senior Research as an Undergraduate Research Fellow as well as working as a Research Assistant focusing on Migratory Species
