Emily McGovern, Women's Swimming and Diving

Hometown: Chatham, New Jersey

Majors: Business and Economics

Favorite part of competing for Brandeis: watching my teammates grow as individuals both inside and outside of the pool.

Favorite athletic moment:  Helping my teammates break the 400 medley relay record at UAAs in 2020.

Favorite professor: Gene Miller at the International Business School, because she helps her students use their superpowers for social good.

The thing that attracted me most to Brandeis: The inclusive environment and how passionate the student body is.

Favorite place on campus outside of Gosman: Upper Usdan. I love running into friends and teammates.

Favorite summer opportunity: Working for the business department to create a hackathon for social good. Sign up for DeisHacks this March!

Thing I'll miss most about Brandeis: Learning from my colleagues, coaches and professors! Everyone has such unique and valuable perspectives.

Favorite thing to do outside of my sport: Cook with my teammates, or watch them cook so I don't burn anything.

Something unexpected I learned at Brandeis: The master of all is the master of none.

After I graduate, I plan to: Start my own business with my twin sister. We're looking to create books that will help increase the medical literacy rates in the United States.

Dream job: Working for myself.

Favorite movie: Inception.

Favorite TV Show: Breaking Bad.

Favorite Song: Dear Prudence by The Beatles.

Favorite Book: Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.

Favorite pro team: The Yankees. I'm a proud Jersey girl!

Favorite Meal: Ice Cream.
