Brandeis Athletics posts best Learfield Director's Cup ranking since 2010

Brandeis placed 80th in the Sears Directors Cup

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Brandeis University department of athletics has finished in 80th place in the final Learfield Director's Cup, a measure of the overall success of the department's teams by assigning points based on finishes at the NCAA Championships.

The Judges scored the bulk of their points in the fall season, thanks to a men's soccer team that reached a second-straight NCAA Final Four and a women's soccer squad that reached the second round of the tournament. In the winter, Brandeis added points at the NCAA Indoor men's and women's track and field championships, including a 14th place finish by the women that was buoyed by junior Emily Bryson's national championship in the 3,000-meter run. In the spring, graduate student Irie Gourde helped the men's outdoor track and field team to a 31st-place finish with a pair of All-America performances.

The 244.55 points the Judges scored were an all-time high, surpassing the 238.5 points in 2010. The 80th-place finish was Brandeis's highest since 2010, when they placed 70th. The Judges finished among the top 20 percent of the 442 NCAA Division III schools.
