Levin Named ECAC-SIDA’S Irving T. Marsh Award Recipient

Adam Levin, Sports Information Director for Brandeis Athletics, has been named the ECAC-SIDA's 2020 College Division Irving T. Marsh Award recipient.

The Irving T. Marsh Service Bureau Cooperation Awards are given annually to an ECAC-SIDA member who, in the opinion of the membership and ECAC-SIDA Executive Board, has exhibited excellence and contributed most to the field of sports information during his or her career. First presented in 1966, the awards are named after Irving T. Marsh, the ECAC Service Bureau founder and director until his retirement in 1973.

"Adam is certainly deserving of this award as an acknowledgment of his commitment both to the profession and to our student-athletes at Brandeis." Remarked Brandeis Director of Athletics, Lauren Haynie. "Whether it is through social media, biographical profiles, or feature stories, his dedication to showcasing the accomplishments of our students, coaches and alumni has been an asset to our entire community."

A 25-year veteran of the sports information field, Levin has spent the last 18 years at his alma mater. A 1994 graduate of Brandeis with degrees in psychology and theatre arts, Levin was a four-year work-study intern in the sports information department and manager of the baseball team. He served as a public relations intern for the Boston Red Sox in 1994 and 1995 before becoming sports information director at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine. After seven years at Bates, Levin returned to Brandeis in August of 2002.

Levin has served as host of nine NCAA Division III regionals in his career, as well as three National Collegiate championships: skiing in 1999 and fencing in 2004 and 2016. Brandeis has had 13 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans and three Sports Illustrated Faces In the Crowd during his tenure at Brandeis. In 2015, he earned the College Sports Information Directors Fred Stabley Award for Top Regional Coach/Historical Profile for his profile Jordan Zides '15: Miracle on the Sidelines.

Outside of his work in sports information, Levin is a trivia guru. On April 29th, 2019, he set a record for the highest runner-up score in the history of the game show Jeopardy!, finishing with 53,999, $18 behind one of the all-time winningest Jeopardy! Champions, James Holzhauer.

After honoring one person from 1966 through 1990, the Irving T. Marsh Service Bureau Award was expanded in 1991 to award one recipient from the University Division (Division I or II) and one recipient from the College Division (Division III, NAIA or Junior College). Beginning this year, one Marsh Award is presented annually, with a second award presented at the discretion of the Executive Board. Levin shares the award this year with Brad Nadeau of Middlebury College.

Among the past College Division Marsh Award winners are former Brandeis sports information director, Jack Molloy (2000), Dennis O'Donnell of Rochester (2003), Jeff Bernstein of NYU (2016), and Paul Sweeney of Tufts University (2019).
