The Misericordia University women's soccer team enters the opening round of the 2014 Division III Women's Soccer Championships with an overall record of 17-2-1, following a 3-0 victory over DeSales in the Freedom Conference Championship match.

The Cougars have now won three straight Freedom titles and are making their fourth straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament... MU made a run to the Sweet 16 last season and earned a trip to the Final Four in 2012.

The Cougars had 10 players, earn post-season awards, including Freedom Offensive Player of the Year Megan Mahoney and Freedom Defensive Player of the Year Erin Roberts... Erin McGreal, Kylen Smith, Maureen Ciccosanti and Meghan Antrim joined Mahoney and Roberts as first-team selections... Amber Hartranft, Alexa Alchevsky, Kristen Ritter and Devin Simpson earned second-team honors and head coach, Mark Stauffer, was named Freedom Coach of the Year... Stauffer also reached the 200-win milestone in MU's 7-0 win over Eastern on October 16 at Mangelsdorf Field.

Mahoney (19g, 12a) leads the Cougars offense with 50 points... She tied the school single-season goals record which is held by Cabrini assistant coach Cole (Vennie) Noll... Antrim (17g, 2a) adds 36 points... McGreal (6g, 8a) follows with 20 points and Hartranft (6g, 3a) adds 15 points... Alex Gallagher and Jacqueline Stevens add five goals each while Smith chips in with nine assists... Ciccosanti broke the record for career wins in the Cougars 3-0 victory at DeSales in the Freedom Championship game... She has seven shutouts and a 0.46 GAA while picking up 15 wins in net for the Cougars.

Notes:The Cavaliers (14-6) have tied the school record for wins in a season after winning their fourth consecutive Colonial States Athletics Conference championship... Dana Peterson was the CSAC Championships MVP and Player of the Year... Peterson was joined by Jess Breuning on the All-CSAC first-team while Lisette Hrapman, Devon Miler, Kaitlyn Cooper and Melissa Scanzano were named second-team... Meghan Martin earned honorable mention status... Head Coach Ken Prothero was the CSAC Coach of the Year... Assistant Coach Cole (Vennie) Noll is a Misericordia graduate and ranks third in career scoring for the Cougars. Cabrini is making its sixth NCAA Championships appearance, including its fourth in a row... The Cavs enter the tournament on a school-record 12-match win streak... Peterson (11g, 1a) leads the team in scoring while Gabby Meck has a team-high seven assists... Alivia Dietsch has tied the school record for goalkeeper wins in a season at 14... Cabrini and Misericordia were formerly members of the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference... The teams last met in 2007 and Misericordia holds a 12-4-2 edge in the series.

Notes: The Judges are making their fourth NCAA Championships appearance and their first since 2012 when they were eliminated in the Elite 8 by Misericordia... Brandeis is 12-4-2 overall and finished sixth in the University Athletic Association at 2-3-2... In her 35th season, Head Coach Denise Dallamora became the 14th coach in Division III history to reach 300 career wins... The Judges have allowed just nine goals in 18 games for a 0.49 GAA while posting 11 shutouts... The Judges had a school-record 11-match win streak during the regular season... Sapir Edalati (9g, 7a) finished second in the UAA with 25 points... Samantha Schwartz (9g, 3a) was fifth with 21 points... Edalati and Schwartz both had five game-winning goals.

Penn State Behrend Women's Soccer

Notes: The Lions (16-5-1) have tied the school record for wins in a season... This is PSU-Behrend's fourth consecutive NCAA Championships appearance and their seventh overall... The Lions beat top-seeded Pitt-Bradford, 2-1, in overtime to win their fourth straight Allegheny Mountain Conference title... Senior Shelby Lloyd was the AMCC Defensive Player of the Year and was joined on the All-AMCC first-team by classmate Maddie Monte and sophomore Alex Bilka... First-year players Olivia Belack and Jordan Oberlander were both named second-team All-AMCC while sophomores Allyson Lonas and Leah Morra earned third-team honors along with first-year Rachel Weyand... Belack (16g, 10a) was second in the AMCC in scoring with 42 points and needs three points to break the school record for single-season points... Bilka (15g, 8a) was third in the league with 38 points.
