WALTHAM, Mass. – Brandeis University baseball grad student and center fielder Dan Frey of Ipswich, Massachusetts, has been named to the 2022 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District team for Division III. He will now advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot.

The 2021-22 Academic All-District® Baseball Soccer Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. To be eligible for the team, student-athletes must carry at least a 3.30 grade-point average and be a significant contributor to their team.

Frey finished the 2022 season as one of the top hitters in the University Athletic Association. He led the league with 48 RBI and 15 doubles, ranking 21st and 35th in all of Division III in RBI-per-game and doubles-per-game, respectively. Frey also finished second in the league in batting average (.383) and slugging percentage (.699), third in triples (3) and fourth in home runs (7). His 48 RBI were the fourth-highest single-season total in program history and gave him 122 for his career, ranking sixth all-time. He also graduates as Brandeis's career leader in stolen base percentage, going 32-for-34 in his career, while finishing tied for fifth with 42 doubles. He was a career .323 hitter with a .393 on-base percentage and a .534 slugging percentage, while posting a .981 fielding percentage in centerfield, making just six errors in 323 total chances.

Off the field, Frey earned his undergraduate degree in chemistry with magna cum laude honors and a 3.51 grade-point average, receiving departmental honors for his thesis Synthesis and Investigation of PyBox Nitrogen Ligands For Iron-Catalyzed Reactions. He is currently working towards his Master's Project and Program Management this year. Frey is a three-time Academic All-University Athletic Association team selection.

First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in June.

Frey is a 2017 graduate of St. John's Prep Schools.
