WALTHAM, Mass. – The Brandeis University baseball team has added Greg Tobin '20 as its new pitching coach.

Tobin, who earned his B.A. from Brandeis in American Studies in 2020, pitched in five seasons for the Judges between 2017 and 2021. He used an extra year of eligibility granted by the NCAA after COVID-19 canceled the bulk of the 2020 season while he started his master's degree at Brandeis.

Tobin was a two-time All-University Athletic Association honoree in 2020 and 2021, when he went 6-0 with a 2.31 earned-run average and 10.41 strikeouts per nine innings over the span of two abbreviated seasons. Tobin made 34 appearances and 27 starts in his career for the Judges, finishing with 12 wins and 172 strikeouts in 178.1 innings. Tobin ranks ninth in Brandeis history in career strikeouts and 20th in innings pitched and victories.

Since 2021, Tobin has served as a pitching coach for teams at several levels of baseball. He started in May 2021 at his high school alma mater, Catholic Memorial School. That same summer, he was the pitching coach for the Brockton (Mass.) Rox of the Futures Collegiate Baseball League. In September 2021, Tobin served as pitching coach at Thomas (Georgia) University while completing his M.B.A., and this summer he has worked for the Waccamaw Naturals of the Cal Ripken Collegiate League in South Carolina.
