KJ Kozens is entering his second season as pitching coach and recruiting coordinator for the Brandeis baseball program.

Kozens is no stranger to the game. At Falmouth High School on Cape Cod, he earned three varsity letters as a member of the baseball team. Kozens would continue his baseball career as a four-year member of the varsity baseball team at Bowdoin College. As a sophomore, Kozens made 11 appearances on the mound as a relief pitcher for the Polar Bears, helping the squad earn an at-large bid into the 2006 NCAA Regional tournament. In both his junior and senior years, Kozens played in every game as both a shortstop and second baseman.

Upon graduation from Bowdoin, Kozens spent the next six years as a high school US History and Economics Teacher. Two of those years were spent at the New Hampton School in New Hampshire and the other four at Bourne High School in Massachusetts. While teaching, Kozens also coached football, hockey, and baseball at both schools. During the summer, Kozens coached with the Sandwich Post 188 Legion Baseball program for five years. He served as the head coach and in 2015, the team captured the District 10 Championship.

Most recently, Kozens was an assistant coach at Roger Williams University. He worked individually with infielders and outfielders and on game day coached third base and called the defense from the dugout. During his four year tenure at Roger Williams, 12 positional players earned CCC All-Conference awards and 2 of those earning NEIBA All-New England recognition. In his final two seasons, the team earned a spot in the conference playoffs with the 2nd seed in both years after coming off two non-conference playoff seasons. In his final season, the Hawks would lose to Salve Regina in the conference finals finishing second in the CCC. Kozens was also responsible for a large part of the recruiting duties at Roger Williams University.
