    On May 6, the Brandeis Department of Athletics held its annual Student-Athlete Recognition and Award Dinner. Director of Athletics Sheryl Sousa and Dean of Students Rick Sawyer were on hand to give out awards to 10 different student-athletes. Read about the winners here!

  • Honors continue to roll in for Chapin, Hollins

    Brandeis seniors Jessica Chapin and Terrell Hollins continue to collect postseason basketball accolades. Both were selected the D3hoops.com All-Region second team, making them eligible for All-America honors by the web site. Chapin added NEWBA first-team accolades, while Hollins was named to the NABC Senior All-Star game roster.
  • Men's hoops run comes to a halt at Williams, 71-57

    The Brandeis men's basketball team's fantastic postseason run came to an end tonight, as the Judges could not contain second-ranked Williams down the stretch. Brandeis fell to the Ephs, 71-57, to come one step short of the Final Four. Andre Roberson led Brandeis with 14 points, Kenny Small had 11 and Terrell Hollins grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds in the defeat.

    The Brandeis men's basketball team closed the game on a 18-6 run over the final 7:10 of the contest and the Judges defeated Rhode Island College, 76-65, in the Sweet 16 of NCAA tournament. Kenny Small and Terrell Hollins had 20 points each, with Hollins grabbing 16 rebounds. The Judges play No. 2 Williams tomorrow at 7 p.m. with a Final Four berth on the line.

    Senior Terrell Hollins kept his season alive with his 13th double-double of the season and the 21st of his career, finishing with 16 points and a career-high 21 rebounds, as the Brandeis men's basketball team defeated St. John Fisher College, 66-52, in the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament. The Judges will face RIC on March 12 at Williams College in the sectional.
  • Kriskus hits for career-high 29 to lead Brandeis men past St. Lawrence, 76-64, in NCAA opener

    Sophomore guard Vytas Kriskus connected on 6-of-9 from 3-point range, scoring a career-high 29 points as the Brandeis men defeated St. Lawrence University, 76-64, in the opening round of the NCAA Division III tournament. Kriskus had 19 points by halftime to lead three Judges in double figures.

    Seniors Terrell Hollins, a forward, and Kenny Small, a guard, were named first-team All-University Athletic Association selections today. They were joined by senior guard Andre Roberson and sophomore guard Tyrone Hughes, who were honorable mention All-UAA selections.

    For the fourth year in a row, the Brandeis University men's basketball team has earned a Pool 'C' at-large berth to the NCAA Division III tournament. The Judges, who finished second in the UAA with a 19-6 record, will face Liberty League champions St. Lawrence University (16-11) in the opening round at St. John Fisher University in Rochester, N.Y.

    The Brandeis men's basketball team scored 14 unanswered points in the second half, erasing an eight-point deficit to defeat visiting NYU, 69-62. The Judges put three players in double figures, but the biggest two buckets were a pair of John Weldon 3-pointers that gave the Judges the lead for good to cap the run.

    Despite senior Terrell Hollins' UAA-leading 12th double-double - the 20th of his career - with 16 points and 19 rebounds, the Brandeis men's basketball team was stunned when Emory rookie Alex Greven hit the game-winning jumper with 5.9 seconds left. The Eagles scored the game's last six points to steal a 64-63 UAA win.

    Senior Kenny Small became the eighth player in school history with 100 career 3-pointers tonight, as he scored a game-high 25 points to lead the Brandeis men past Rochester, 87-70, in the Palestra. The Judges shot a season-high 63 percent from the floor to complete their second-ever sweep of the 'Jackets.

    Five different players scored in double figures as the Brandeis men's basketball team, ranked 21st in the nation, bounced back from a home loss to defeat the University of Chicago, 83-71. Sophomore Vytas Kriskus tallied a team-high 20 points in 26 minutes off the bench, while senior Terrell Hollins had his 11th double-double of the season.

Chapin had a single-game record with 36 points against CMU for the Brandeis women, while Hollins' 17 points and 19 rebounds made the Class of 2010 the winningest in men's basketball history with 76 victories.

    Senior Terrell Hollins stuffed the stat sheet and made history today as the #20 men's basketball team beat Carnegie Mellon, 72-59. He had 19 points, 16 rebounds, six assists, three blocked shots and three steals in a game that included his 1,000th career point. Hollins is the program's 27th 1,000-point scorer.

    The 20th-ranked Brandeis men's basketball team bounced back from their worst 3-point shooting effort in a big way, connecting from beyond the arc on six consecutive possessions during a first-half stretch that saw the Judges pull away from Case Western Reserve University for a 70-52 UAA victory in Auerbach Arena.

    Three Brandeis student-athletes were named University Athletic Association Player of the Week for Jan. 24. Senior Terrell Hollins was honored for men's basketball, while juniors Emma Larkin and Grayce Selig were recognized for women's fencing and women's track and field, respectively.

Both teams are now 3-1 in the UAA, tied with WashU and Emory atop the conference standings.

  • Capano, Hughes named UAA Athletes of the Week

    Junior Lucia Capano and sophomore Tyrone Hughes were selected as University Athletic Association Athletes of the Week for Jan. 19. Capano was selected for the second time this season for indoor track as she qualified for the NCAA championships in the triple jump. Hughes was honored for the first time for his role a 3-0 week for the #15 men's basketball team.
