Vilmont matches career-high 22 points in 85-58 win for men's basketball over RIC

Waltham, Mass. - The Brandeis University men's basketball team routed the visiting Rhode Island College Anchormen, 85-58. The Judges led wire-to-wire to improve to 3-0.

Junior guard Robinson Vilmont (Cambridge, Mass./Wilbraham and Monson) led the Judges with a career-high 22 points on 9-of-14 shooting from the field, including 3-for-4 three-pointers. He had help from classmate Tim Reale (Mason, Ohio/St. Andrew's), who put in 14 points on 5-of-6 shooting. Junior center John Powell (Ashland, Mass./Brimmer and May) added 10 points, a team-high seven rebounds, and three blocked shots.

Brandeis shot a season-best 54 percent for the field (30-for-56) while holding Rhode Island to 36 percent shooting (20-for-55). They also outrebounded the Anchormen, 39-27.

The Judges closed the first half on a 16-6 run to take a 40-26 lead into the locker room. They never relented in the second half, leading by double digits for the remainder of the game. The final margin of victory, 27 points, was their largest lead of the afternoon.

Freshman forward Justin Campbell led the Anchormen with 21 points, making seven of his eight attempts, and a team-high seven rebounds, six of which came on the offensive glass. Junior forward Terrance Tribble added 13 points for Rhode Island, which is now 1-2.

The Judges will host Lasell College Tuesday, November 24 at 6 pm.
