Rogak named UAA Men's Fencer of the Week

WALTHAM, Mass. – Brandeis University rookie epee fencer Ben Rogak of East Setauket, New York, has been named the University Athletic Association Men's Fencer of the Week for the week ending Feb. 9.

Rogak earned his first UAA weekly honor by posting an 11-4 record at the 2020 Duke Invitational, the best of any Brandeis fencer. He led the Judge epee squad to a 3-2 record by going 3-0 against #4 Penn State and North Carolina and 2-1 against #5 Notre Dame and Johns Hopkins. He was also 1-2 against #10 Duke. The epee squad bested Penn State, UNC and Johns Hopkins. Overall as a team, Brandeis went 1-4, with their win coming against JHU, 18-9, with narrow losses to Penn State, 14-13, and North Carolina, 15-12. Overall this season, Rogak leads the epee squad with a 42-31 record, the second-highest win total on the Judges.

Brandeis owns a 16-16 overall record this year. They will close out their dual-meet season on Wednesday evening at 6 PM at Boston College in the annual Beanpot Tournament against BC, Harvard and MIT.  

Rogak is a 2019 graduate of Ward-Melville High School.
