  • Five from men's soccer honored by UAA

    The Brandeis men's soccer team had five players honored by the University Athletic Association this postseason. Junior back Ari Silver and classmate Theo Terris, a midfielder, were second-team All-UAA selections, while senior GK Taylor Bracken, senior MF/D Kyle Gross and junior forward Luke Teece were honorable mentions.
  • Men's soccer claims third ECAC crown with 4-2 win at Western New England College

    The Brandeis men's soccer team opened the game with four unanswered goals, two in each half, as the fourth-seeded Judges defeated host and No. 2 seed Western New England College, 4-2, to earn the third ECAC New England crown in team history. Senior goalie Taylor Bracken was the tournament MVP, making 13 saves and allowing just one goal in the tournament.
  • Hohmann leads Brandeis men past Bridgewater State, 3-0, and into ECAC finals

    Senior Matt Hohmann scored his first career goal in 62 games today, and it was the game-winner, as the Judges defeated Bridgewater State University, 3-0, in the semifinals of the ECAC Division III New England tournament. The Judges will take on host WNEC tomorrow at noon in search of their third ECAC crown.
  • Russo's big night leads Brandeis past Albertus Magnus, 5-0, in ECAC Quarters

    Sophomore midfielder Lee Russo nearly doubled his season scoring total tonight, tallying four goals in the first half to lead the fourth-seeded Brandeis men's soccer team past No. 5 Albertus Magnus in the opening round of the ECAC Division III New England Tournament, 5-0. Russo also had an assist on the game's fifth goal.
  • Men's soccer returns to postseason with ECAC tourney berth

    For the first time since 2006, the Brandeis men's soccer team has qualified for the postseason. The Judges finished at 9-7-1 and earned the fourth seed in the ECAC Division III New England tournament. Brandeis will host Albertus Magnus College Wednesday, November 10, at 6 p.m.
  • Brandeis men fall to #21 NYU, 1-0, in regular-season finale

    Senior midfielder Kyle Gross had four of Brandeis's attempts as the Judges outshot 21st-ranked NYU, 14-9, but the Violets were the only side to find the back of the net in the regular-season finale for both teams. The win gave NYU their first-ever UAA title, while the Judges fall to 9-7-1 and await a possible ECAC tournament berth on Monday.
  • Men's soccer bows at Chicago, 1-0

    The Brandeis men outshot host Chicago, 10-9, but the Maroons scored the game's only goal in the 57th minute to take a 1-0 University Athletic Association decision. Senior Taylor Bracken made four saves in the losing effort.

    Sophomore Lee Russo notched his fifth goal of the season to give the Brandeis men's soccer team an early lead at 12th-ranked Washington University. Unfortunately for the Judges, the Bears scored right before the half and added three more in the second to take a 4-1 UAA win.
  • Men's soccer downs Lasell, 2-0, to clinch first winning season since '06

    Behind a pair of second-half goals, the Brandeis men's soccer team defeated Lasell College, 2-0, in Newton. Playing their last regular-season game in New England, the Judges got goals from sophomore midfielder Joe Eisenbies and junior forward Alexander Farr. Taylor Bracken had five saves for his fourth shutout of the campaign.
  • Men's soccer tops Springfield, 3-1, in regular season home finale

    Juniors Luke Teece and Alexander Farr added to the top two goal totals on the team, while senior Kyle Gross had one assist and started another goal-producing play as the Brandeis men's soccer team defeated Springfield College, 3-1, in non-conference action. The Judges improve to 8-4-1 on the season.
  • Men's soccer earns 1-1 draw with #9 Emory

    Junior Luke Teece scored in the third minute today and the Judges were able to hang on for a 1-1 draw with nationally-ranked Emory University. Brandeis finished a streak of three games against top-25 foes with a 1-1-1 record after their match today with the No. 9 Eagles.

    The Brandeis men's soccer team outshot 21st-ranked Carnegie Mellon tonight in a steady rain under the Gordon Field lights, but the visiting Tartans got the last laugh, scoring 2:15 into the first overtime to escape with a 1-0 victory in University Athletic Association action. Junior Theo Terris had seven shots, four on goal, while sophomore Joe Eisenbies (pictured) just missed in the 62nd minute.

  • UAA Road Trip coming to Brandeis

    Atlanta-based writer Kevin Austin is touring all of the UAA campuses in his 1984 RV, Honey, as he prepares a book celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Association.   • Vallone, Farr named UAA Soccer Offensive Players of the Week

    Senior Sofia Vallone and junior Alexander Farr were named UAA women's and men's soccer Offensive Player of the Week to October 4. For Vallone it marks the second week in a row she has earned the honor.
  • Farr nets goal and assist, but men's soccer falls to Case, 3-2

    Junior forward Alexander Farr came off the bench to contribute a goal and an assist, but the Judges could not completely erase a two-goal deficit as they dropped their UAA men's soccer opener to Case, 3-2. Brandeis is now 6-3 on the season, 0-1 in UAA play.

    Despite the team-leading fifth goal of the season by junior reserve Luke Teece, the Brandeis men's soccer team could not pull off a road victory, as the Judges fell at rival Babson, 2-1, in the second overtime period. The Judges dropped their second-straight contest after winning their first six to start the season.

With two nationally-ranked cross country squads leading the way, men's soccer off to its best start in 25 years and women's soccer and volleyball performing well, it's been a great first month for the Judges!

    The Judges scored early in the ninth minute, with a goal by sophomore Lee Russo assisted by junior Theo Terris. But a surprised header by MIT in the 79th minute earned MIT the win, besting Brandeis just 2-1.

    The first two UAA Athletes of the Week from Brandeis for 2010 have been named! Junior Marc Boutin led the cross country team to third place at UMass Dartmouth, while senior Stephen Kostel had a goal and three assists for the unbeaten men's soccer team.

  • Men's soccer sets records in 13-0 win over Newbury

    With 13 goals in a shutout of Newbury College, the Brandeis men's soccer team set a record for single-game scoring in pouring rain under the lights. Among the Judges' fireworks was the fastest hat trick in school history, as junior Alexander Farr scored three times in just 4 minutes and 13 seconds.
  • Men's soccer off to best start since 1985 with 4-1 win over WPI

    Sophomore Lee Russo tallied twice tonight in leading the Brandeis men's soccer team to a 4-1 victory at WPI. Senior Stephen Kostel added three assists as the Judges won their fifth in a row, giving them their best start since 1985. The five-game winning streak is their longest since 2000.
  • Men's soccer wins fourth straight, 6-0, over Colby-Sawyer

    Six different players scored goals and five others had assists as the Brandeis men's soccer team improved to 4-0 for the first time since 2005 with a 6-0 whitewashing of Colby-Sawyer College. The Judges recorded their fourth-straight shutout as well, marking the first time since 2006 they achieved that feat.
  • Keuchkarian strike gives men's soccer 1-0 win over Clark in home opener

    The Brandeis men's soccer team won its third-straight game to open the season for the first time since 2005 thanks to an early goal from senior Steve Keuchkarian. The Judges topped Clark, 1-0, and have not allowed a goal all season.
