Men's soccer wins fourth straight, 6-0, over Colby-Sawyer

WALTHAM, Mass. -- Six different players scored goals and five others had assists as the Brandeis men's soccer team improved to 4-0 for the first time since 2005 with a 6-0 whitewashing of Colby-Sawyer College. The Judges recorded their fourth-straight shutout as well, marking the first time since 2006 they achieved that feat.

Sophomore Joe Eisenbies (Hingham, Mass./Hingham) took over the team's scoring lead in the 15th minute with his third of the season, unassisted. All three of Eisenbies' goals this year have been game-winners. Rookie Kyle Feather (Pinebrook, N.J./Montville Township) scored his first collegiate goal just 2:42 later, heading in a corner kick from classmate Ben Applefield (Avon, Conn./Avon). It was Applefield's second helper of 2010.

Junior reserve midfielder Luke Teece (Tucson, Ariz./University) matched Eisenbies atop the team's scoring table in the 35th minute on a header from rookie Matt Brondoli (Durham, N.H./Durham School of the Arts), while junior Alexander Farr's (Nahant, Mass./St. John's Prep) first goal of the season in the 41st minute gave the Judges a 4-0 lead headed into the intermission. Senior Stephen Kostel (New Hyde Park, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy) added the assist, tying Applefield for the team lead.

Junior Noah Bass (Lexington, Ky./duPont Manual) and rookie Nick George (Bangor, Maine/Bangor) scored in the latter stages of the second half to secure the win. Senior Matt Lynch (Weymouth, Mass./Weymouth) had one save in just under 70 minutes of action, while sophomore Blake Minchoff (Fiskdale, Mass./Tantasqua) was untested in 20 minutes in net. Max Williams had 10 saves in the losing effort for Colby-Sawyer.
