Judges defeat Rochester Yellowjackets, 1-0, in their sixth shutout of the year

Rochester, N.Y.-- (courtesy Rochester sports information) Brandeis topped the University of Rochester yesterday, 1-0, for their first conference win. This was Rochester's (6-1-4, 0-1-1 in conference) first loss of the year. Junior midfielder Luke Teece (Tucson, AZ/University) scored the game winner in the first half.  The Judges' defense held on to the lead, assisted by very impressive play from senior goalie Taylor Bracken (No. Andover/St. Johns Prep).

In their sixth shutout of the season, the Judges (7-3, 1-1 in conference), played a strong defensive game. Teece scored the game winner in the 30th minute.  Junior midfielder Evan Ersing (Beverly, MA/St. John's Prep) played a hopeful ball upfield. It found Teece running with the Rochester defenders. As he collected it, he turned towards goal and saw Rochester goalkeeper Scott Garfing charging off the line to cut down the angle. He slid the ball under Garfing and into the lower right corner of the net.  Teece's sixth goal ties him for second in the UAA in goals and third for points.

Goalkeeper Taylor Bracken made nine saves, including two tough ones in the last minute, as the Judges held on for their 1-0 victory.  Bracken leads the UAA in stops per game and is ranked fourth for total saves, with 33.

In a well executed devensive move, sophomore midfielder Joe Eisenbies (Hingham, MA/Hingham) headed a ball of the line in the final minutes to perserve the Judges' shutout.
