Men's soccer bows at Chicago, 1-0

CHICAGO, Ill. -- The Brandeis University men's soccer team suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of the University of Chicago today on Stagg Field. The loss drops the Judges to 9-6-1, 1-4-1 in the University Athletic Association, while the Maroons improve to 8-7-1, 2-3-1 UAA.

After a slow first half in which each team only got off three shots, UC finally broke through in the 58th minute. Alan Pikna started the play with a pass to Daniel Hahn. Hahn put the ball towards the net, and Stanton Coville was able to complete its progress across the goal line at the 57:20 mark. It was Coville's seventh of the season.

The Judges ended outshooting Chicago, 7-6, in the second half and 10-9 for the game, but Maroon keeper Mason Harless made two saves for the shutout. Brandeis senior Taylor Bracken (No. Andover, Mass./St. Johns Prep) had four stops in the losing effort.

Brandeis will wrap up the regular season at UAA leader NYU next Saturday afternoon at 1:30 p.m.
