WALTHAM, Mass. – Brandeis University senior senior back Joe Eisenbies of Hingham, Mass., has been selected as a third-team Scholar All-American by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).

Eisenbies, a defender, was a first team All-University Athletic ASsociation and All-New England honoree after moving from midfield to defense this season. He had a goal and an assist this season, but was instrumental in controlling the back line. The Judges has 10 shutouts during season, and allowed more than one goal in only three of their 22 contests, allowing just 16 goals overall, third-fewest in the UAA. Eisenbies was the MVP of the Judges' 2011 ECAC Division III New England Tournament run. Off the field, Eisenbies owns a 3.38 grade-point average as a business major.

The Judges also had two other Scholar All-Region honorees, as seniors Lee Russo of Westford, Mass., and Blake Minchoff of Fiskdale, Mass., were named to the teams. Russo owns a 3.32 GPA in politics, while Minchoff has a 3.62 GPA in sociology and business.

The Brandeis men's soccer team completed a historic 2012 season in which they reached the NCAA Division III tournament for the first time since 1985. The men, who were ranked No. 13 in the nation at the end of the season, posted an 18-3-1 record and advanced to the Sweet 16 with wins over Baruch, 2-0, and Vassar, 1-0, before falling to Williams, 1-0, in the sectional semifinals.

Eisenbies is a 2009 graduate of Hingham High School. He is the son Ray and Bonnie Eisenbies, Hingham, Mass.
