HARTFORD, Conn. -- The Brandeis men's swimming and diving team swept all the freestyle events and won 10 of 16 events overall, but host Trinity College took advantage of the lack of Judge divers to earn a 153.5-139.5 victory. With their dual-meet season complete, the Judges finished with a record of 4-5 headed into championship season.

Senior Robert Morse (Hope, R.I./Bishop Hendricken) led the Judges' freestyle brigade. He won the 100-yard free with a time of 58.00 seconds and the 500 in 4:59.04. Morse was also part of a rare tie in the 1000, coming from behind to take the lead on the next-to-last lap, only to touch at the same time as his Trinity competitor with a time of 10:16.64.

Junior James Liu (Longmeadow, Mass./Longmeadow) had a fine performance, winning the 50 and 200 free events. He took the 50 in 22.29 seconds and the 200 in 1:46.03. Liu also captured the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:22.75.

The Judges had two other individual winners. Rookie Marc Eder (Princeton, N.J./Lawrenceville) won the breaststroke events, taking the 100 in 1:01.44 and the 200 in 2:13.44, while sophomore Aaron Bennett (Setauket, N.Y./Ward Melville) won the butterfly events. Bennett took the 100 in 54.24 seconds and the 200 in 2:00.66.

The Judges are now off until mid-February when they compete in the University Athletic Association championships at the University of Chicago.
