Daniel Wohl '21, UAA Swimmer of the Week

WALTHAM, Mass. – Brandeis University sophomore Daniel Wohl of Chapel Hill, North Carolina has been selected as the University Athletic Association Men's Swimmer of the Week for the week ending December 9.

Wohl was a triple winner for the Brandeis men in their 192-102 loss to Colby College on December 8. A freestyle specialist, he took the 50-yard event in 22.22 seconds, out-touching his Colby opponent by one-tenth of a second. In the 100, he won by just over a second in 48.72 seconds, while his 200 time of 1:44.71 was half a second faster than the runner-up.

Earlier this season, Wohl and three teammates established a new school record in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:25.10. They erased a school record that had stood since 2005. Wohl is also the school-record holder in the individual 200-yard free with a time of 1:41.34 set last season.

The Brandeis men have a 2-5 record under head coach Nicole Carter, who is in her first season. The Judges are off for the semester before returning to meet Maine Maritime on Sunday, January 13th. This is his first career UAA Athlete of the Week honor.

Wohl is a 2017 graduate of East Chapel Hill High School.
