Men's tennis shuts out Wheaton, 9-0

The Brandeis University men's tennis team ranked #10 took on Wheaton College today in the first match of the Judges double header. The Judges swept singles and doubles play in route to a 9-0 victory. With the win the Judges improve to 11-2, while the Lyons fall to 5-5.

In doubles action, rookie Jeffrey Chen (Northfield, Ill. / New Trier) and rookie Adam Tzeng (Eagle, Idaho/Eagle) got things going at No. 1 with a 8-4 win. At No. 2, duo of sophomore Nikhil Das (Smithfield, R.I. / Moses Brown School) and sophomore Rajan Vohra (Glen Head, N.Y. / North Shore) earned a 8-6 victory, while at No. 3 sophomore Ben Maffa (Lexington, Mass. / Lexington) and junior Benjamin Wolfe (Blue Bell, Pa. / Wissahickon) completed the sweep with a 8-4 victory.

The Judges stayed hot in singles play, coming out strong as rookie Nico Ramirez (Miami, Fla. / Gulliver Prep) got things going with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 4. Junior Wolfe got things done at No. 5 as he earned a 6-2, 6-0 win, while at No. 6 senior Zach Cihlar (Phoenix, Ariz. / Brophy College Prep.) claimed a 6-2, 6-2 win. Rookie Colt Tegtmeier (Madison, Wisc. / James Madison Memorial) kept things rolling for the Judges at No. 3 as he earned a 6-3, 6-4 victory, while sophomore Vohra claimed a 6-1, 6-4 victory. Closing things out was rookie Chen as he claimed a 6-4, 6-1 win.

The Judges will look to stretch their win streak to five wins as they will face Endicott College at 2:00 p.m. for the second match of the double header today.
