Men's tennis places four on All-UAA team

All-UAA Men's Tennis selections David Aizenberg, Anupreeth Coramutla, Adam Tzeng and Jeffrey Chen in action

WALTHAM, Mass. – Four members of the Brandeis University men's tennis team have been honored with All-University Athletic Association honors today. The UAA is only recognizing All-Conference this year without differentiating between first and second teams.

Leading the way are senior David Aizenberg of Highland Park, Illinois, and junior Anupreeth Coramutla of Monroe Township, New Jersey. Both were honored for both their singles and doubles play. As a pair, the duo were named an All-UAA No. 1 doubles team for the third year in a row, having garnered first-team honors in the previous two seasons. Aizenberg also claimed second-team honors as a rookie. He also earned singles honors for the second year in a row, having been recognized as a first-team member last year. Coramutla also earned his second single recognition, coming off a second-team appearances last year. In doubles, the pair were ranked eighth in Division III by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association in the final regular-season rankings released on Friday. In singles, Aizenberg was ranked 17th, while Coramutla was ranked 25th. Aizenberg was seventh in the Northeast Region, Coramutla 11th and they were third regionally in doubles. The pair were 13-3 as a doubles team, while Aizenberg was 7-6 at No. 1 singles and Coramutla was 7-3 at No. 2 singles.

Also honored by the UAA were the sophomore duo of Adam Tzeng of Eagle, Idaho and Jeffrey Chen of Northfield, Illinois. They were both recognized for their play at No. 2 doubles for the second year in a row, while Tzeng was also honored as a third-singles player. Tzeng was named the UAA Rookie of the Year in 2019. They went 6-3 during the regular season in doubles, including 4-0 in dual matches. Tzeng was 6-5 in singles action.

Brandeis posted a 2-3 record this spring in their first season under head coach Pauri Pandian, with their losses coming to a pair of top-five opponents and a Division I foe. They earned a key 7-2 victory over conference rivals Washington University in the opening round of the ITA Indoor Championships.

Aizenberg is a 2016 graduate of Highland Park High School.

Coramutla is a 2017 graduate of Phillips Andover Academy.

Tzeng is a 2018 graduate of Eagle High School.

Chen is a 2018 graduate of New Trier High School.
