Aizenberg, Coramutla named All-Americans

2020 Men's Tennis All-Americans David Aizenberg and Anupreeth Coramutla

WALTHAM, Mass. – Brandeis University men's tennis senior David Aizenberg of Highland Park, Illinois, and junior Anupreeth Coramutla of Monroe Township, New Jersey, have been selected as 2020 All-Americans by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. Aizenberg was selected for both singles and doubles, while Coramutla was named for doubles only.

Aizenberg is the first Brandeis men's tennis player since 1994 to earn All-America honors (Ryan Rothenberg '95) and the first since 1988 to earn singles and doubles honors in the same season (Noel Occomy '89). Aizenberg and Coramutla are the Judges' first doubles All-Americans since Occomy and Ian Murray '89 in 1988. They had previously been selected to compete at the NCAA Championships in doubles in 2018 before being sidelined by illness.

In doubles, the pair were ranked eighth in Division III by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association in the final regular-season rankings released last Friday. In singles, Aizenberg was ranked 17th, while Coramutla was ranked 25th. Aizenberg was seventh in the Northeast Region, Coramutla 11th and they were third regionally in doubles. The pair were 13-3 as a doubles team, while Aizenberg was 7-6 at No. 1 singles and Coramutla was 7-3 at No. 2 singles.

Aizenberg concludes his career with 102 victories, including 61 in doubles, the most at Brandeis since at least 2000. He did this despite missing the fall of his junior season by going abroad and the majority of the spring of 2020 after it was canceled due to the coronavirus. Coramutla will enter his senior season with 83 career wins, including 53 in doubles.

As a pair, the duo were previously named as an All-UAA No. 1 doubles team for the third year in a row. Aizenberg also earned singles honors for the second year in a row from the UAA.

Brandeis posted a 2-3 record this spring in their first season under head coach Pauri Pandian, with their losses coming to a pair of top-five opponents and a Division I foe. They earned a key 7-2 victory over conference rivals Washington University in the opening round of the ITA Indoor Championships.

Aizenberg is a 2016 graduate of Highland Park High School.

Coramutla is a 2017 graduate of Phillips Andover Academy.
