WALTHAM, Mass. – Brandeis University junior pole vaulter Breylen Ammen of Lincoln, Massachusetts, has been selected as a first-team CoSIDA Academic All-District® I selection for men's track and field as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America. For achieving this honor, Ammen will be eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-America® honors.

Ammen was the 2020 University Athletic Association champion in the pole vault during the indoor season, Brandeis's first ever in that event. He had previously finished fourth both indoors and outdoors at the UAAs as a sophomore. He also earned All-UAA honors in the javelin as a sophomore. He also set the school record in the event at 4.56 meters (14 feet, 11.5 inches) during his sophomore campaign. In the classroom, Ammen owns a 3.92 grade point average as a double major in environmental studies and politics. He spent the summer between his sophomore and junior seasons doing forest ecology research.

The 2020 Academic All-District® Men's Track and Field Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletic competition and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Honorees selected first-team Academic All-District® will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. Academic All-America® honorees will be announced from June 22-25.

The Division II and III CoSIDA Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2019-20 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CoSIDA Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA national office.
