Sinead Delahunty Evans has been the head coach of Brandeis track and field since December of 2013. Now in her 10th full season as head cross country coach and 11th as track and field coach, Delahunty Evans previously spent two years as a full-time assistant working with the Judges' distance and middle-distance runners.

Under Evans' guidance, Brandeis has had 17 different athletes qualify for NCAA Championships in 11 different events, with two team appearances: the 2018 women's cross country team that tied for the program's best-ever finish, placing sixth, while the 2021 squad placed 20th. The Judges won a pair of national championships during the indoor season in 2019, winning the distance medley relay and mile run at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston to finish seventh overall in the team standings. Two more All-American performances during the outdoor season - another national title in the 1,500-meters and a 6th-place finish in the 800, helped the Judges take 18th overall. Those combined finishes helped the Brandeis women finish seventh overall in the USTFCCCA's year-long standings, by far the best finish since the organization started tracking such feats. 

Evans coached one of the most decorated runners in program history in Emily Bryson '19. Bryson was a four-time national champion - in four different events (mile, 3,000m, and DMR indoors and 1,500m outdoors) and a nine-time All-American. As a four-time cross country All-American, Bryson was just the 19th woman in Division III history to accomplish the feat all four years, including a fifth-place finish as a senior, the second-best in school history. In addition to Bryson, Doyin Ogundiran '19 earned three All-America honors - two as a member of the DMR, and one in the 800-meter run outdoors in her final attempt after qualifying in each of the previous two years. Julia Bryson '19 earned two DMR All-America honors, running the lead leg, while Lisbeth Valdez '21 and Devin Hiltunen '22 each ran 400-meter legs on All-America teams.  In 2019-20, Niamh Kenney '22 and Jack Allan '20 qualified for the NCAA Indoor championships in the 3,000m and heptathlon, respectively, before the championships were canceled. Both were honored as All-Americans after the season.

In 2021-22, seniors Kenney and Erin Magill '22 combined to earn four All-America honors: Kenney finished 32nd at the cross country championships, while Magill was 36th in cross country, 6th in the 5,000-meters indoors and 8th in the 5K outdoors. The 2022-23 season saw first-year runner TJ Carleo of the men's team qualify for the NCAA Championships in the 800-meter run during the outdoor season.

In 2017-18, the Brandeis track and field team produced seven All-America performances. Emily Bryson '19 and Ryan Stender '18 started the program's terrific year in cross country, finishing 20th for the women and 34th for the men. In the winter, Bryson won Brandeis's first national championship since 1999 in the 3,000-meter run during the indoor season, while anchoring the distance-medley relay to a third-place finish along with twin sister Julia '19, Doyin Ogundiran '19 and Lisbeth Valdez '21. Irie Gourde '17/MA '19 earned his first career All-America honor indoors in the 200-meter dash, then followed it up with top-eight finishes in the 200m and 400, making him just the fourth Brandeis male to win multiple All-America honors at the same meet and the first to do so in two individual running events.

Brandeis sent three competitors in the mile run in 2014 (Amelia Lundkvist '14, Vicki Sanford '14 and Kesley Whitaker '14). Triple jumper Mo Sidique '14 won All-America honors as a senior. 

Evans is a 1993 graduate of Providence College, where she was a six-time All-American. She established a PC record in the indoor 1,000 meters and helped set the indoor and outdoor 4 x 800 meter relay mark and the outdoor distance medley relay record. She was the Providence Female Athlete of the Year in 1993 and was inducted into the Friars' Hall of Fame in 2009. Evans went on to compete for Ireland in four World Championships and in the 1996 Atlanta and 2000 Sydney Olympics in the 1,500. 

She has also served as head coach at Regis College in 2002 and is currently also an assistant with the Waltham Track Club.
