2010 — Schmand played in 34 games during the Judges’ historic 2010 campaign, starting in the outfield for 32 of them. At the plate, Schmand had her most productive season to date, with career highs in batting average, at-bats, hits, RBI, total bases, sand slugging percentage. While doing so, Schmand had a couple of stand out performances that propelled the Judges to wins. Early in the season, during a conference match up against Washington, Schmand drove in the game winning RBI. Later in the season versus a regionally ranked opponent in Bowdoin, Schmand had an RBI two-out single that scored the tying run in a 3-2 game and eventually scored later in the inning as the go-ahead and winning run. In the outfield, Schmand had another impressive year to complement her first two seasons. She completed her third consecutive year of flawless defense in conference games and was just shy of a career high in put-outs with 28. Overall, Schmand has amassed an impressive 17 assists while manning one of the three outfield positions over the last three seasons. 2009 — Once again utilizing all of the tools she exhibited her freshman year, Schmand returned to lead the outfield in 2009, starting in 43 games on the year for the Judges as a sophomore, all at the centerfield position. Schmand got off to a fast start the first week of the 2009 season, tallying five hits during the UAA conference tournament in Florida where she also played flawlessly in the outfield for the second year in a row. 2008 — Exhibiting good speed, a solid arm with an extremely quick release, and the willingness to dive for balls, Schmand quickly established herself early on in her freshman year as the Judges’ starting centerfielder, going on to play in 45 games, starting in all but one of them. With great field sense, particularly at the Judges’ unique home field, Schmand led all outfielders in assists with an astounding 11. On the offensive side of things, Schmand, extremely patient and picky at the plate, was among the team leaders in walks with 20 which doubled her amount of strikeouts (10) for a very impressive 2:1 walk to strikeout ratio. On the season, she finished with an impressive .437 on-base percentage, one of the highest among all active Judges in that year. High School — Schmand arrived at Brandeis after leaving as the fouryear starting varsity shortstop at Walt Whitman High School, as well as the starting shortstop for the Maryland Champions 18U summer travel team.
