2010 — Playing three different defensive positions on the year (first base, left field, and shortstop) didn’t seem to mess with Specker’s offensive focus and finally having healthy hamstrings certainly seemed to help as she went on to have a breakout year for the Judges at the plate. Playing in all 39 games on the season and hitting primarily in the two-hole, Specker led a very talented Judges team in batting average (.416), hits (52), doubles (13), and OBP (.490). She also had one of the best walk-to-strikeout ratios (3:2) on the team and was second in stole bases with eight. Specker’s standout year culminating in a 10 game hitstreak for the last 10 games of the season, including a hit in all four NCAA post-season games against two All- American pitchers. In the field, Specker proved to be an extremely valuable utility for the Brandeis squad. She started the year and the UAA Conference Tournament splitting time between left field and shortstop, spending multiple game stints at both throughout the first half of the season. As the second half of the season rolled around, Specker found herself on the right side of the diamond, playing a very good first base due to a teammate’s injury. 2009 — Specker started in 41 games for the Judges as a freshman, primarily as the DH. Batting .295 on the year, Specker was second on the team in walks (18), tied for first in hit-by-pitch (3) and perfect when stealing bases (4-4) despite playing through a pulled hamstring for the majority of the season. Specker’s 18 walks and nine strikeouts gives her the best walk to strikeout ratio on the team. Specker hit her first collegiate homerun on May 10th in a win in the ECAC quarterfinal game against Plymouth . High School — Specker started as the varsity third baseman at South Windsor High School as a freshman when her team was a conference co-champion. As a sophomore, Specker had transferred to Westminster and started there at numerous infield positions for her final three years. Specker played summer ball most recently for the Connecticut Pink Panthers. Personal — Born Marianne Specker on December 21, 1990 to Ken and Carol Specker. Majoring in Psychology with Minors in Politics, History, and Women and Gender Studies.
