For the first time ever in 2017, the UAA softball schedule was contested on the campuses of the host institutions. After the Judges' first home four-game series was limited to just one five-inning contest (a snow-shortened 4-2 win over Case Western Reserve), they headed to Atlanta to meet Emory. The Judges had only defeated the Eagles twice in program history, but coach Danielle DelPonte's young squad picked up a stunning sweep on the first day of action, taking both games in extra innings. In the opener, Scottie Todd '20, who would earn the conference ERA crown, kept the Eagles in check for eight frames before third baseman PJ Ross '20 blasted a three-run home run to left-center field to secure the 4-1 win. Game two featured some wildness – 20 combined walks for the two teams – but catcher Keri Lehtonen '19 drew a bases-loaded walk in the eighth to secure a 5-4 victory, as Todd earned her second win of the day in relief.
