DeLaurentis, Todd named second-team All-UAA

WALTHAM, Mass. — Brandeis University sophomore Marissa DeLaurentis of Centereach, New York, and rookie Scottie Todd of Tampa, Florida, have been selected as second-team All-University Athletic Association (UAA) by the league's coaches.

DeLaurentis started all 30 games for the Judges, primarily in left field. She led the team with 34 hits and was second in batting average at .343, just a single percentage point behind leader Todd. DeLaurentis tied for the team lead and finished eighth  in the UAA with eight doubles, while adding a home run to pace the squad with nine extra-base hits for a .455 slugging percentage, third on the team. She drove in 14 runs and scored 17, ranking third and second on the Judges, respectively.

Todd served as the Judges' top pitcher this season, starting 12 games. She also served as the team's designated player in 13 others. In the circle, Todd led the UAA and set Brandeis's single-season record with a 1.41 earned-run average. She threw 94.1 innings (6th in the league) and allowing 95 hits and 39 runs, only 19 of which were earned. She struck out 49 (6th) and walked 26 in posting a 9-5 record, tying for fifth in the league in wins. Todd threw nine complete games and two shutouts. She allowed two earned runs or fewer in 16 of her 19 pitching appearances. Todd also led Brandeis with a .344 batting average (22-64) and slugging percentage (.500) thanks to seven doubles and a home run. She drove in 10 runs and scored 12.

Overall this season, the Judges finished 13-17 in head coach Danielle DelPonte's second season. Ten of the 15 players on Brandeis's roster were either freshmen or sophomores. The Judges posted a 4-9 record in the UAA in the first season of on-campus games.

DeLaurentis is a 2015 graduate of St. John the Baptist Diocesan High School.

Todd is a 2016 graduate of Strawberry Creek High School.
