WELLESLEY, Mass. (taken from a Wellesley College press release)
– Wellesley basketball started off their first home game
losing to Brandeis University, ranked 7th nationally, 56-37. The
Judges (3-0) came out on fire scoring six unanswered points on the
Blue. Brandeis continued to pressure the Blue with a full court
press, causing the shot clock to wind down on Wellesley and force
them to take poor shots. However in the final minutes of first half
action Wellesley was able to stay with Brandeis knocking their lead
back to 11 at half, 26-15.
The game continued to be a low scoring game in the second half with
Brandeis scoring a mere 20 points and Wellesley with 12. Brandeis
continued to dominate the flow of the game; junior Caitlin Malcolm
(Windsor Locks, Conn.) led all scorers with 22 pts and 11 rebounds,
while teammate Kiersten Holgash (Easton, Pa.) had 8 pts and 2
rebounds. For the Blue, senior co-captain Laura Weslander had 9 pts
and 5 rebounds, Kristin Doeberl had 8 pts and 2 rebounds, and Sefi
Adasi had 7 pts and 8 rebounds.
