    On May 6, the Brandeis Department of Athletics held its annual Student-Athlete Recognition and Award Dinner. Director of Athletics Sheryl Sousa and Dean of Students Rick Sawyer were on hand to give out awards to 10 different student-athletes. Read about the winners here!
  • Chapin earns WBCA/State Farm, D3hoops.com All-America team honors

    Senior guard Jessica Chapin became the first woman in school history to be named the WBCA/State Farm All-America First Team. The 2010 University Athletic Association Player of the Year was one of 10 players named to the team. Brandeis players had previously been named Honorable Mention six times by the WBCA. She was also a fourth-team All-America selection by D3hoops.com
  • Honors continue to roll in for Chapin, Hollins

    Brandeis seniors Jessica Chapin and Terrell Hollins continue to collect postseason basketball accolades. Both were selected the D3hoops.com All-Region second team, making them eligible for All-America honors by the web site. Chapin added NEWBA first-team accolades, while Hollins was named to the NABC Senior All-Star game roster.

    Brandeis senior guard Jessica Chapin, the 2010 UAA Player of the Year, is now also a finalist for All-America honors, having been named to the WBCA All-Region team. Chapin has also been selected to play in the NEWBA Senior All-Star Game March 27 at Western New England College.

    Senior guard Jessica Chapin became the second player in school history to earn University Athletic Association Women's Basketball Player of the Year today. A first-team All-UAA selection for the second year in a row, she joins Jaime Capra '08 as UAA Player of the Year selections. Morgan Kendrew and Amber Strodthoff were All-UAA honorable mentions.

    Senior Jessica Chapin just missed a triple-double with 20 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists, and the Judges shot a scorching 70.8% (17-24) in the first half to defeat NYU, 90-65, in the regular-season finale for both teams. For Brandeis, it represents just the second-ever season-sweep of the Violets and the first since 2003-04.
  • Fencers compete at Boston Bean Pot tournament

    The Brandeis fencing team had a rare mid-week meet, taking on three local rivals in the Boston Bean Pot tournament. The Judges lost five of six matches, with the only win a victory by the men's team over MIT, 16-11. The women dropped a narrow 14-13 decision to Boston College in which each weapon was decided by one point.
  • Strodthoff, Posch earn UAA Player of the Week honors, Feb. 22

    For their performances the week of Feb. 15-21, Brandeis junior Amber Strodthoff of the women's basketball team and senior Artie Posch of baseball have been named UAA Players of the Week. Strodthoff averaged 15.5 points and 10 rebounds in a 2-0 week, while Posch batted .600 with a doubles, two home runs and seven RBI for the 1-3 Judges.

    Junior forward Amber Strodthoff had a career-high 17 rebounds to go with 16 points for her fourth double-double of the season for the Brandeis women's basketball team as they avenged a University Athletic Association loss with a 58-38 win over Emory University.

    For the second year in a row, the Brandeis women's basketball team rallied from a big second half deficit to defeat the University of Rochester on the road. The Judges came back from 20 points down thanks to 13 second-half points from junior forward Amber Strodthoff and nine points in just 18 minutes from senior Jessica Chapin.

    Senior Jessica Chapin tried to put the Brandeis women's basketball team on her back once again, scoring 10 of her 14 points in the second half, but the University of Chicago Maroons came out on top, 49-47, in a UAA contest. Sophomore Shannan Hassan had a fine game off the bench with seven points and six rebounds.

    Senior Jessica Chapin had 13 points to lead all scorers, but no other Brandeis player was able to notch more than four as the Judges fell to seventh-ranked Washington University, 50-37. In the lowest scoring game of the campaign for both teams, Brandeis lost for the first time when holding an opponent under 60 points.
  • Women's hoops hosts WBCA Pink Zone promotion Friday night vs. WashU

    Senior Jessica Chapin will lead the Brandeis women's basketball team into action on Friday, Feb. 12 against the sixth-ranked Washington University Bears. The Judges will be taking part in the WBCA's Pink Zone promotion to raise breast cancer awareness. All fans are asked to wear a pink article of clothing to support the Judges and the cause.

    Seniors Jessica Chapin and Terrell Hollins earned UAA Player of the Week honors for their record-setting weekends against Case Western Reserve and Carnegie Mellon. Chapin had a single-game record with 36 points against CMU for the Brandeis women, while Hollins' 17 points and 19 rebounds made the Class of 2010 the winningest in men's basketball history with 76 victories.

    The Brandeis women's basketball team connected on seven of their first nine 3-point shots, while a 13-0 run expanded a four-point lead to 17 and the Judges never looked back. Junior Diana Cincotta had 11 first-half points and finished with 13, while senior Jess Chapin had 18 points, five board and five assists to move into sixth on the career list.

    The UAA has honored six Brandeis University student-athletes as Athlete of the Week for Feb. 1. Senior guard Jessica was honored for the second time in three weeks for women's basketball, while NCAA qualifiers junior Devon Holgate of and the women's distance medley relay team were honored for men's and women's track and field, respectively.

    Senior Jessica Chapin scored 27 points, giving her 59 for the weekend, to lead the Brandeis women past Carnegie Mellon, 70-58. Chapin - who tallied 17 in the second half - moved into sixth place on the Judges' all-time scoring list with 1,160 points, surpassing Chris Corsac '88.

    Despite a career-high 16 points from junior guard Diana Cincotta the Brandeis women’s basketball team suffered its second-straight University Athletic Association road loss, 74-61, at the hands of the University of Chicago Maroons. With the loss, the Judges fall to 8-5, 1-2 in the UAA.

    Despite 12 points and a game-high 11 rebounds from junior forward for her second double-double of the season, the Brandeis women's basketball team suffered a 67-57 setback at third-ranked Washington University. The Bears closed the first half on a 15-4 run and held off the Judges the rest of the way.

    After averaging 27 points and six rebounds over two games, senior guard Jessica Chapin has been as the women's basketball Player of the Week by the University Athletic Association (UAA) and as the New England Division III Player of the Week by the Eastern College Athletic Association (ECAC). This is her second UAA weekly honor and first from the ECAC.

    In the return of former assistant coach Anthony Ewing to Auerbach Arena, the Brandeis women's basketball team suffered an 81-77 defeat to the University of New England Nor'easters. The loss came despite the efforts of senior Jess Chapin, who scored 29 points, including her 139th career 3-pointer, breaking Jen Curran '01's record.
