WALTHAM, Mass. – The Brandeis University Swimming and Diving teams have been honored by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) as CSCAA Scholar All-America Teams for posting a 3.0 GPA or better for the Spring semester. The Brandeis women have now been honored in 53 of the last 54 semesters, dating back to the tenure of Brandeis Hall of Fame coach Jim Zotz, while the men were honored for the 10th time in the past 12 semesters.
The Brandeis women compiled a team GPA of 3.23, while the men were at 3.40. Five women and eight men were recognized by the University Athletic Association as Academic All-UAA selections for earning cumulative GPAs of 3.30 or above.
"I'm thrilled that so many of our student-athletes are being recognized for their hard work in and out of the classroom," said Interim Director of Athletics Jeffrey Ward. "Representing Brandeis in athletics and doing well in school have never been mutually exclusive and these teams prove that year in and year out."
In addition, rising junior Tamir Zitelny was recognized as an Individual Scholar All-American after achieving a grade point average of 3.50 or higher and achieving a qualifying time for the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. Zitelny was recognized for the second year in a row.
