#30 Women's Tennis Cruises Over Trinity (Conn.), 7-2

WALTHAM, Mass. – The #30 Brandeis women's tennis team beat the Trinity (Conn.) Bantams on Sunday afternoon, 7-2. The Judges got back over .500 at 8-7, while the Bobcats fell to 3-7.

Brandeis won two of the three doubles matchups, with two convincing wins coming at No. 2 and No. 3. Rookie Sophia He (Poughkeepsie, N.Y. / Spackenkill) and sophomore Charlotte Aaron (Phoenix, Ariz. / Arcadia) won at No. 2, 8-2, and seniors Maya Vasser (New Rochelle, N.Y. / New Rochelle) and Emily Eska (Princeton, Mass. / Wachusett Regional) had their fifth win in six matchups as a pairing, 8-1. No. 1 pairing sophomore Haley Cohen (Cherry Hill, N.J. / Laurel Springs) and rookie Olivia Leavitt (Falmouth, Maine / Falmouth) lost a barnburner to Trinity's Vanja Babunski and Zoe Lindbloom, 9-8.

Brandeis continued its strong play into singles, with all five of its wins coming in straight sets. The Judges dropped only two games total in matchups Nos. 3-6, with rookie Keren Khromchenko (Manalapan, N.J. / Academy of Allied Health and Science), He, Eska, and rookie Michele Lehat (Great Neck , N.Y. / John L. Miller Great Neck North) winning, respectively. Leavitt won the No. 2, 6-4, 6-0, and Cohen lost a close one to Babunski, 6-3, 3-6, 10-8.

 

The Judges play again next weekend in the UAA Tournament at Altamonte Springs, Fla., and will try and claim a UAA title
