#20 women's tennis blanked by #6 Middlebury

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Brandeis University women's tennis team dropped a 9-0 decision in their second match of the season against a top-10 opponent as the #20 Judges fell to #6 Middlebury today. Brandeis drops to 3-4 on the season, while the Panthers improve to 2-0.

The Judges' closest doubles match came at #2, where junior Diana Dehterevich (Minsk, Belarus/Secondary School #185 of Minsk) and senior Keren Khromchenko (Manalapan, N.J./Academy of Allied Health and Sciences) dropped an 8-3 decision.

In singles action, Middlebury lost four games or fewer in four of the six matches. The top showings by the Judges were from Dehterevich at #1, where she lost, 6-3, 6-4, to Katherine Hughes, and at #6, where rookie Ana Hatfield (Rockford, Ill. / Boylan Central Catholic) took the Panthers' Emily Hughes to a tiebreaker in the first set before bowing, 7-6 (7-2), 6-2.

The Judges return to action tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. to take on Colby College at home in the Gosman Athletic Center.
