#10 women's tennis drops spring opener to D1 Bryant, 6-1

GREENVILLE, R.I. – The Brandeis University women's tennis team, ranked #10 in Division III, dropped their season-opening match at Division I Bryant University by a 6-1 margin. The Judges fall to 0-1, while the Bulldogs move to 4-3.

The match was played under Division I rules, including six-game sets in doubles, a single doubles point, and no-ad scoring.

The Judges' lone point came at #1 singles, where senior Diana Dehterevich (Minsk, Belarus/ Secondary School #185 of Minsk) pulled out a 7-6 (10-8) win in the opening set and then cruised to a 6-0 win in the second. The Judges also dropped a three-setter at #4, where junior Rachel Zubrinsky (Waxhaw, N.C/Marvin Ridge) won the first set, but 6-2, but couldn't hang on in the second-set tiebreaker, 7-6 (10-8), before her Bulldog opponent won a super tiebreaker in the third, 10-6.
