Oh named UAA Defensive Player of the Week

WALTHAM, Mass. – Brandeis University rookie Kaitlyn Oh of Santa Clara, California, has been named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending November 4th.

Oh led the Judges to a 2-1 record at the UAA tournament at the University of Rochester over the weekend. She recorded 71 digs and averaged 5.92 digs per set, both best in the conference over the weekend. With Oh as the team's top defensive player, Brandeis led all UAA schools with a .151 opponent's hitting percentage.

Oh recorded nine digs in a 3-0 loss to eventual champion Emory in the first round, then had a match-high 26 in a 3-1 win over Case Western Reserve in the tournament's consolation finals. In the season finale against NYU in the tournament's fifth-place match, Oh registered a career-high 36 digs as Brandeis came from two sets down to win in five, 17-25, 18-25, 25-22, 25-21, 15-8.

Overall this season, Oh led the team with 430 digs and a 3.94 digs-per-set average. She tied for sixth in the UAA in both categories. The Brandeis volleyball team closed out its season with a 13-17 record, but their fifth-place finish at the UAA tournament was their highest since 2008.

Oh is a 2018 graduate of Cupertino High School.
