Volleyball named AVCA All-Academic team for 3rd straight year

Brandeis Volleyball AVCA Team Academic Award Winners

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Brandeis University volleyball team has been honored by the American Volleyball Coaches Association as a 2018-19 Team Academic award winner. The Judges earned the award for the third year in a row and sixth time overall.

The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale. The Judges' 19-member roster finished with a cumulative GPA of 3.52, with 15 players reaching a 3.30 GPA or better.

Brandeis finished with a 13-17 record in the University Athletic Association (UAA). Under UAA Coach of the Year Alesia (Vaccari) Bennett, the Judges finished in fifth place at the conference tournament, winning their two matches in the consolation bracket as the eighth seed.

The Judges open their season August 30th and 31st at the Springfield College Invitational. Their first home match will be played September 13th at 7 p.m. against Bates college.
