    Brandeis junior Jessica Chapin and graduate student Steve DeLuca have been selected as Division III Basketball All-Americans by their respective coaches Associations. Chapin give the Brandeis women an honorable mention All-American for the sixth-straight year, while DeLuca is the sixth NABC All-American in Brandeis history.

    Brandeis graduate student Steve DeLuca of Merrimack, N.H., has been named a first-team All-Northeast District selection by the NABC for the second time in his career, making him a finalist for All-America honors. DeLuca finished his career as the Judges' fifth all-time leading scorer with 1,595 points.

    The Brandeis men cut a 20-point deficit to one with possession of the ball and had another chance to win the game with 24 seconds left, but Andre Roberson's and Steve DeLuca's chances to tie the game on the final possession went just awry, as the Judges fell to Franklin and Marshall, 65-63, in the second round of the NCAA Tournament

    Kenny Small had 19 points, Terrell Hollins had 12 of his 14 in the second half after the Brandeis men closed the first half on a 9-2 run to take a lead they wouldn't relinquish en route to a 74-60 win over Scranton in the first round of the NCAA tournament tonight.

    Both Brandeis basketball teams are in the NCAA tournament for the third year in a row, and for the first time in school history, the Judge women will host the first two rounds. Brandeis will host Western Connecticut in the first round, with Mt. St. Mary (N.Y.) and SUNY-Brockport in the other game. The men travel to Franklin & Marshall to play the University of Scranton.

    The Brandeis University men's basketball team has earned its third-straight berth in the NCAA Division III tournament as an at-large selection. The Judges will travel to Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, Pa., where they will take on the University of Scranton at 6 p.m. on Friday, March 6.
  • Olson's 3-pointers lead men past NYU, 63-44, in regular-season finale

    Senior Kevin Olson connected on five-of-six 3-pointers, finishing the regular season with an astonishing 59.7% mark from deep, as the Brandeis men closed the regular-season with a 63-44 victory over NYU. The Judges, ranked eighth in New England, await the NCAA tournament announcement on Monday to see if they have earned an at-large berth.

    The Brandeis University Department of Athletics and the Friends of Brandeis Athletics (FOBA) are proud to announce the members of the Class of 2009 to the Brandeis Athletics Hall of Fame. The 13th Hall of Fame Class will be inducted at an 11:00 a.m. brunch ceremony at the Westin Hotel in Waltham on November 1.

    On senior day, the Brandeis men's basketball team set a new UAA record by hitting on 73.1 percent from the field (38-52) as the Judges defeated Case Western Reserve, 108-78. Three players scored in double figures as the Judges posted their highest point total under head coach Brian Meehan.

    Junior guard Kenny Small tallied a career-high 18 points and the Judges outscored visiting Emory by 22 points off turnovers and 20 points from the free-throw line to earn a 65-54 University Athletic Association victory tonight.
  • DeLuca surpasses 1,500 career point plateau as Judges knock off Rochester, 80-63

    Graduate student Steve DeLuca had 17 points today to become the seventh player in school history to reach the 1,500-point plateau as the Judges defeated host Rochester, 80-63, in University Athletic Association action. The Judges snapped a 13-game losing streak at UR in the process.

    Andre Roberson scored 13 of his game-high 18 points in the second half, as the Brandeis men's basketball team overcame a slow start to defeat No. 21-ranked Carnegie Mellon, 66-63. The Judges hit 9-of-14 from 3-point range while holding the Tartans to 1-of-9 from deep.

    Quick starts to both halves by the second-ranked and defending national champion Washington University Bears doomed the Brandeis men's basketball team in an 82-57 University Athletic Association loss today. The Judges were paced by 15 points from rookie Vytas Kriskus, who made his first collegiate start.

    Senior Kevin Olson scored 22 points on 6-of-10 from 3-point range, while junior guard Andre Roberson had a double-double with 14 points and 10 assists, but it wasn't enough to overcome 65 percent shooting from beyond the arc from the hosts as Brandeis lost a UAA road game at the University of Chicago, 90-81.

    The Brandeis University men's basketball team stifled visiting Chicago in the first half, holding the Maroons to 12 points on 3-for-18 shooting, as the Judges jumped out to a 27-12 lead. Rookie Vytas Kriskus had 15 points off the bench to lead the Judges in scoring. The win was the 250th in the career of head coach Brian Meehan.
  • Men's hoops falls to No. 2 Washington, 80-75

    Despite four players in double figures, including a career-high 17 from junior Kenny Small, the Brandeis men's basketball team could not overcome a hot-shooting Washington University, dropping an 80-75 UAA decision.

When the Judges host Washington University on Friday night, it will be the SAAC's Third Annual Brandeis Beach Bash. For the women's game against Chicago on Sunday, Brandeis will be participating in the WBCA's annual Pink Zone promotion.

    Grad student Steve DeLuca led the Brandeis men past their second-straight nationally-ranked squad as the Judges defeated No. 9 Amherst, 73-58, in western Massachusetts tonight. DeLuca had game-highs with 23 points and 12 rebounds for his second double-double in three games, moving into 10th place on the Judges' career scoring list with 1,404 points.

    The Brandeis men's basketball team connected on 13-of-20 3-pointers, including 8-of-10 in the first half, to defeat visiting NYU, 65-35, in a UAA contest today. Senior Kevin Olson led the way with 15 points, including 12 in the first eight minutes.

  • Torrid second half leads Framingham State past Brandeis, 70-61

    The visiting Framingham State College men's basketball team hit on 13-of-21 shots (61.9%) in the second half, including 6-of-7 from downtown, to defeat host Brandeis, 70-61. With the loss, the Judges see their five-game winning streak snapped and fall to 5-4 headed into the semester break.

Junior Terrell Hollinsearned the honor for men's basketball for the second time in his career, while sophomore Paul Norton of the men's indoor track and field team was recognized for the second time in 2008-09.

Steve DeLuca finished with 14 as well, while Andre Roberson had 13 and Christian Yemga and Terrell Hollins had 11 each.
