Junior Carley Cooke of the Brandeis women and rookie Brian Granoff of the men will represent the Judges at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges on May 22-24
The Judges won two of three doubles and five of six singles matches to finish in seventh place in the UAA, ahead of the sixth-seeded Yellowjackets. Danny Lubarsky won twice, including the clinching singles win at No. 3.
The Judges won four of six singles matches, including all three that lasted three sets, but the Maroons advanced to the fifth place match by winning all three in doubles. Brian Granoff won at first singles and had the closest doubles match.
Rookie Ryan Bunis won his eighth-straight match, fourth in a row in three sets, but the eighth-seeded Judges couldn't get past the defending UAA Champions. Brandeis will face #17 Chicago tomorrow in the consolation semifinals.
Before the match, the Judges honored their two graduating seniors, Adam Brown and Evan Berner. Ryan Bunis won the clinching point after coach Ben Lamanna shuffled the doubles lineup and was rewarded with a sweep.
Rookie Ryan Bunis picked up a win at No. 4 singles for the Judges. The teams also played three additional doubles and six singles matches, with Brandeis picking up three more wins over the Bulldogs.
The Judges won two of three doubles matches and two early singles matches to take a 4-2 lead, but the Violets rallied to win the final two matches in three sets. Junior Alec Siegel was a double-winner on the day.
The Judges fell to the #10 Panthers, 8-1, but rallied for a 6-3 win over Colby. Rookie Brian Granoff went 3-1 on the weekend at No. 3 doubles and No. 2 singles.
The Judges rolled to all three doubles matches and took four out of six singles matches as well. Brian Granoff lost just three games at second singles.
Rookie Michael Arguello earned his first dual match win as Brandeis's No. 1, and also picked up a tiebreaker win at first doubles as the Judges edged the Panthers.
Despite a pair of wins from sophomore Danny Lubarsky, the Brandeis men's tennis team suffered a loss to the 14th-ranked Bulldogs to open their West Coast trip.
The men's tennis team started off the year against some of the top competition in the country, taking on several local rivals at the Middlebury Invitational.
Two teams and six distinguished individuals will join the Joseph M. Linsey Brandeis Athletics Hall of Fame on October 12. This will be the 20th anniversary of the Hall and the 15th induction class.
