Bryson has another top-10 finish for women's x-country at Conn. College

WATERFORD, Conn. – Rookie Emily Bryson continued her fantastic season and sophomore Liam Garvey had his first appearance as the Judges' top runner this year as the Brandeis University cross country teams previewed the NCAA Division III New England regional this weekend at the Connecticut College Invitational at Harkness Memorial State Park in Waterford, Conn.

NOTES

  • The Brandeis women entered the race ranked No. 19 in Division III. Four of the five teams ahead of them are also in the top 20, with #31 Keene State just 11 points ahead and #11 Carleton (Minn.) just eight points in front.
  • Rookie Emily Bryson (Quincy, Mass./No. Quincy) had her fourth-straight top 10 finish in her collegiate career. This was her first college race at six kilometers.
  • Senior Kelsey Whitaker (Kingston, Mass./Notre Dame Academy) was nine seconds and four places behind Bryson. Whitaker shaved eight seconds over her previous best at this meet.
  • Junior Lydia McCaleb (Evanston, Ill./Evanston) moved up into the top 3 after placing fourth on the team in the previous two races. It was the seventh time in her career she was the squad's third runner. McCaleb was a more than a minute faster than her previous best time at Harkness.
  • Classmate Maddie Dolins (Highland Park, Ill./Highland Park) finished outside the team's top three for the first time in her career as the squad's fourth runner.
  • Bryson's twin sister Julia was the team's final scorer, placing just ahead of sophomore Kyra Shreeve (Northborough, Mass./Algonquin Regional), who made her season debut.
