After posting a 3-1 record and a 2.79 ERA in three starts, plus a 3.59 GPA as a politics and international and global studies double major, Asher Kaplan became Brandeis's fourth Academic All-District honoree of 2021.
Baseball, softball, men's and women's tennis and men's and women's outdoor track and field student-athletes were honored for maintaining a cumulative GPA above 3.30.
Sydney Goldman was honored for the second time as UAA Softball Pitcher of the Week, while Brian King was named as Baseball Hitter of the Week for the first time.
The Judges batted around twice in the fifth inning, scoring 15 runs on 10 hits and four Ram errors. Shortstop Drew Michaud had the best game of the day at the plate, going 4-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, a double and a stolen base.
The Rams rallied to defeat the Judges, 6-5, in the opener of a doubleheader, then took game two, 8-3. Brian King had hits in both games and has drive in a run in four straight.
The Judges are on their longest winning streak since taking nine in a row in 2016 thanks to a 5-6 performance with four RBI and three doubles from Brian King across the two games.
Isaac Fosses snapped an 11-11 tie in the bottom of the sixth to give Brandeis the win in the opener before Tim Lopez shut down the Wildcats in the second game.
The Judges limited the Wildcats to just eight hits across 14 innings, including five Ks in five innings from Tim Lopez, while Isaac Fossas (5-8, 5 RBI, HR, 2B) swung the big bat.
The Judges got home runs from seniors Mike Khoury and Luke Hall early, and a three-run pinch double from Steven Simon late, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Wildcats.
Thanks to several matching donations and many generous contributions from supporters, the Brandeis Athletic department had an unprecedented Giving DEISDay on December 1, with current donation totals expected to exceed $100,000 from more than 600 donors, once final numbers are counted and pledged gifts are received.
